-You are likely an Alijae or Kallijae elf. Ekujae is a third option. The major difference between the two is the understanding of the prophecy of ancient evil. If you believe the ancient evil is demonic in nature, you are an Alijae elf. If you believe the coming of the ancient evil is within oneself (aka, elves living into ancient age are more likely to become corrupted by demonic influence and reclusive), then you’re Kallijae.

-Alijae are pragmatic above all else. What is the purpose of knowledge but to use it? The orcs can use demonic magic to fight the demons, so why can’t they? Alijae are likely to be researchers, scholars, witches, and clerics. Gods are just otherwordly beings to be bargained with for power to hold back the demons. It is a war and sometimes sacrifices must be made. While the Kallijae are unwilling to make those sacrifices, the Alijae are. If you select this path, you start with the Genealogy Mask as a unique racial item. As you level up, you will gain additional masks, but only Alijae elves can use them. It is recommended to take the Elven Lore feats and the woodland elf heritage. Ancestral suspicion is also good.

-Kallijae are a largely atheistic society, seeing the gods as fallible. As such, divine spellcasting is seen as outside of their culture with a witch being outcast almost immediately. All other classes (that don’t use demon magic) are widely practiced by the Kallijae, with a particular focus on Monks and Bards (as names carry power and Bards pass on the pieces of names of demons they may one day need to fight again). Kallijae elves must practice a rite known as the “Crucible of the Heart.” This is when they go out to face the demons of the world. You could be performing this rite by attending the school with no financial assistance and should take the Demonbane Warrior feat at level 1 to reflect your heritage.

-Ekujae are an enigma. They are the jungle dwelling elves. During the events of Earthfall, the Ekujae were the ones who stayed behind to fight the “Great Darkness,” saving the world in the process but at a great cost to their numbers. They are the people who defeated a living aspect of a god with no god to aid them. As such, they have developed a culture of xenophobia and a smug sense of superiority, only further bolstered by the recent history of slavers attempting to burn their jungles and steal their resources. The university has a special relationship with the Ekujae, allowing them easy access to the university, despite their abrasive behavior. If you take this, consider taking some sort of dragon lore. For the purposes of the story, consider playing against type. An Ekujae that wants to rebuild communication between the various tribes of the Elvish people. Playing an abrasive character gets old way before level 20.
-Also note the following. Gold is seen as anathema to your people. Not gold as in money, but physical gold. As such, your money needs to be silver or platinum as to offer gold to these people is to insult them as it is a complex and interwoven part of their history and traditions concerning dragons. Only the Keledi may have gold, but it is ritually purified, and it represents that they are part of a death cult willing to sacrifice their lives so that others may use their spiritual energy to fight the Great Darkness when it returns.
