Azure Leopard, the patient Warden, was likely a human woman who founded the Tempest-Sun Mages. She is believed to be a master of lightning and weather magic.

One day, the patient warden saw the clouds and knew a storm was coming. She approached the storm and told the storm that he was not allowed in the village. The storm said, “I must pass through here. Let me through the river and I will ignore the village.” The Patient Warden knew that the river would overflow and destroy the crops, so she said no. “Let me pass over the cliff and I will ignore the village and the river,” said the storm. The Patient Warden knew a marriage was to be held on that cliff and the storm would surely cause someone to fall to their death, so she said no. “Let me pass by the outskirts of your village and I will ignore the village, the river, and the cliffs.” The Patient Warden knew a child was due to be born in the outskirts and said no. “I must pass through here. So, out of respect to you, I will let you pick where I go.” The patient warden paused, before pointing at her own house. The storm passed over her house, flooding it and destroying her books, her food, and all that she owned. But, her house stood, for it was as strong as its owner.

This story is often taught as a lesson about how the strong should bear the brunt of troubles or how those in leadership should choose to sacrifice things instead of ruining special events or hurting people. Fewer still may teach this as a parable of the importance of letting nature take its course instead of trying to fully stop it, that bad things do happen to good people.
